About the American Hatpin Society
Membership Information

It was with great sadness that the American Hatpin Society was formally disbanded in November 2019, having first been formed thirty years earlier in May 1989.

We were, and our former members still are, a group of enthusiastic hatpin and hatpin holder collectors who wanted to provide information about the history and value of the hatpins and holders that we all loved and had gathered from every place in the world where they could be found.

The club was a resource, cheering section, and gathering point for collectors…not only in the US, but in many other countries as well. We were led by some impressive people, beginning with our first president Doris Gaston in 1989, followed by Beverly Churchfield in 1991, and then by Virginia Woodbury for a 10-year stint from 1995 to 2005. Jodi Lenocker skillfully took over for another 10 years, from 2005 until 2015, and was followed by our last president Jan Isenberg, who expertly led us through the 4-years from 2016 to 2019. But they weren’t alone. We owe a debt of gratitude to all of the wonderful members who worked tirelessly, mostly behind the scenes, to keep the organization fresh, viable, and alive.

We all wish that the club could have continued, and although that was not financially possible, we have decided to keep this web site alive in the spirit of our original charter, to provide information about hatpins and holders to anyone interested in learning more about this wonderful collectible that we’ve all loved and enjoyed for many years. This website is run by our former AHS Newsletter Editor of 10 years, Carla Walters. Our Webmaster continues to be Leslie Woodbury who designed the site and has worked with it since it was established in 2004. Information for contacting Carla is in the “Contact Us” section.
